Kegel exercises Failed to Increase Sexual Satisfaction

Known Kegel exercises may help women who experience urinary incontinence (beser). But studies have found this exercise failed to improve women's sexual satisfaction.

Researchers in Brazil might suspect this exercise may also improve sex for older women. Unfortunately, a small study suggests that exercise may not affect sexual function as expected.

Approximately 32 those who have experienced menopause women voluntarily underwent pelvic floor exercises for three months. Exercise carried out for two occasions weekly in sessions guided by a physician in the group, and thrice a week done at home.

After three months, researchers on the University of Sao Paulo measure pelvic floor muscles in women become more powerful. The survey also showed changes inside mood belonging to the participants.

According to participants' answers about the excitement, interest and sexual satisfaction, it is known that this exercise does not enhance women's sexual function. These results certainly surprised the researchers.

"Sexual dysfunction in women is admittedly influenced by many factors, both psychological, physiological factors include relationship. Women may have a vagina that works perfectly, but have a bad sex life as a result of other problems," said Dr. Leah Millheiser, director on the Female Sexual Medicine Program at Stanford University School of Medicine.

Millheiser says more questions about the quality of the connection and the stress will be better in determining how well the Kegel exercises can improve female sexual function. But researchers even have to explain the hormonal changes in menopausal women.

"Lubricants, arousal and sexual response is admittedly not only is determined by the mental, but in addition hormonal factors. Hormonal changes in menopause can attenuate the vaginal wall and affect lubrication, arousal and feminine sexual response. Not one of the women in this study that receiving hormone therapy vagina, "said Millheiser as reported by LiveScience, Saturday (11/05/2011).

However, that does not mean Kegel exercises may not help women's sexual problems. Millheiser recommend Kegel exercises still need silakukan for women who experience vaginal weakness or feeling "loose" after giving birth.

"They clearly have allow you to enhance sexual satisfaction, but said that Kegel exercises are the answer to any sexual problems is a mistake. Even Kegel exercises could make the problem worse for girls who have sexual pain," said Kellogg-Spadt.
